Sunday March 3rd at 3pm, scattering of ashes
The ashes of Ella Smart have recently been found at the undertakers. The family would like these to be scattered at Sandy Acres. Ella was an active Guider in Portsmouth and a County camp adviser who often camped at Sandy Acres. I am told that she pitched her tent so that she could see all the other tents and kept the tent flaps open day and night. In Sandy Acres early days she had a key to the building so that she could show hirers round. I have asked the Rev Mary Tillman if she would be kind enough to conduct a short ceremony in the quiet area on the site. She has agreed to do this on Sunday March 3rd at 3pm.
Caroline Grace who has booked the site for a Guide weekend has kindly agreed to provide tea and cake in the Lodge after the ceremony. Caroline would obviously like to have some idea of numbers attending. If you are planning to attend could you please telephone or e-mail me before 22nd February.

Week beginning Monday March 25th
An Adventure trail suitable for five to eleven year olds will be installed on the site between the woodpile and Owls Hoot. This equipment will be supplied by Playdale and will come with a twenty year guarantee. All the equipment is accredited as meeting national safety standards. All the items will be at low level so no supervision will be necessary.
Before the commencement of the summer camping session we are hoping to erect two sheds on the car park. One will house the tables and chairs from the Lodge the other will house a refrigerator and freezer for the use of campers.
